My Thai girlfriend wants me to meet her parents at their home in thailand, what should I do,?

My girlfriend wants me to come to her house to meet her parents when I go to Thailand, she lives there with them, my bro told me this isa lot more signifacant than it would in the U.S. That it is almost like an engagement anouncement and if thing's don't go well, she could loose face. I am so in the dark on this!
