Which is the best book story, surprises and uniqueness wise?

The only one of those I ever read was Fahrenheit 451. It is a very good book with an insanely purposeful message behind it, but it might be slightly hard to understand completely on your own, depending on your reading level. All in all, I suggest it nonetheless.
