What happens after orthotics...Helpp!!??!!?

I went to the orthepedist and got diagnosed with genu valgus in my legs. I am bolegged, and have a 30-40 degree rotation on my legs inward. My hips, knees, and ankles are all rotated in. This is giving me knee pain. The othepedist is gave me a prescription for orthotics to put into my shoes for 6-8 weeks. If they don't work what happens next. Will I get braces on my knees or surgery?
